Profit Scanner Relaunches Its Website With a Full Formula Reference

PMT Technology has rebuilt profitscanner.xyz from scratch and published a complete reference for the screener formula language, documenting every function available to screeners and alerts.

PMT Technology has rebuilt profitscanner.xyz and published a substantially expanded reference for the screener formula language used by the Profit Scanner app.

The previous site was a WordPress installation carrying five pages and three articles. The replacement is a static site: faster to load, readable on a phone, and with a dark mode that follows the device setting.

A complete formula reference

The most significant addition is the rewritten screener formula guide.

Profit Scanner lets you write your own screener criteria as boolean formulas rather than picking from a fixed set of dropdowns. That flexibility is only useful if you know what the language contains, and until now the published documentation covered a fraction of it.

The new guide documents the full vocabulary available to screeners and formula alerts:

  • Moving averages including SMA, EMA, WMA, DEMA, TEMA and VWMA
  • Momentum including RSI, StochRSI, MACD, PPO, TSI, TRIX, CCI, ROC, Williams %R and the Ultimate Oscillator
  • Trend including ADX, Aroon, Supertrend, Chandelier Exit, Parabolic SAR and linear regression
  • Volatility and channels including ATR, Bollinger Bands, Donchian channels and the Mass Index
  • Volume including OBV-style accumulation, Money Flow Index, Chaikin Money Flow, Chaikin Oscillator, VWAP, PVO and the Accumulation/Distribution Line
  • Statistics and helpers for sums, averages, highest and lowest values, standard deviation, slope, crossovers and bar counting

Each section states what the function returns, its arguments, and a worked example that can be pasted into the app.

Named sub-expressions and loops

The guide also documents two parts of the language that make longer formulas manageable: named definitions, which let a condition be given a name and reused, and loops, which let one expression be applied across a range of bars without writing it out repeatedly.

Everything else

The site also carries the buy and sell signal rules, listing the exact threshold applied to each indicator rather than describing them in general terms, and a fundamental ratios reference for the equity data in the app.

The FAQ has been rewritten around the questions support actually receives, and the legal pages have been brought up to date.
